Camille E. Trummer

Transformational bridge-builder + change-maker.

Camille E. Trummer is an interdisciplinary social impact consultant, inclusive facilitator, and engagement strategist based in Portland, OR

With over a decade of experience, she uses her expertise as a trained strategic communications practitioner to mobilize communities and mission-driven organizations to build trust and co-create sustainable, justice-driven change. A leader in regenerative design and social impact strategy, her work lies at the intersection of community-driven movement building, inclusive engagement, and strategic communications, and includes a deep network of community leaders and mission-driven organizations. Camille has partnered with community-based organizations, nonprofits, government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies to create more inclusive and equitable social impact projects informed by ethnographic and quantitative data. She has designed and implemented statewide inclusive engagement strategies, multicultural marketing campaigns, has landed influential press coverage, and designed accessible, trauma-informed strategic communications plans and collateral. Camille’s social impact frameworks have been adopted by The Oregon Community Foundation, The Oregon Health Authority, Metro, Greater Portland Inc, City of Portland, and many other organizations across the Pacific Northwest. Her theory of change is clear and actionable: equitable transformation must be a collective, multipronged effort across communities and mission-driven coalitions, each of whom share a vision for justice and liberation.

To bring her theory of change to life, Camille founded Camille E. Trummer Consulting—a boutique consultancy specializing in social corporate responsibility, community/stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications. As the Principal Consultant, her social impact work extends across a range of industries including community economic development, urban planning and sustainability, environmental justice, and public health.

Camille holds bachelor degrees in Cultural Communication and Comparative History from the University of Washington, and a Master’s degree in Strategic Communications from Northwestern University. She is a founding board member of The Conscious Kid, serves on the Board of Directors for the Portland Housing Center, and recently joined the Board of Directors for Business for a Better Portland.

Camille is also known for her lifestyle, travel, and interior design content via Modern Mix — a photography-focused social media account started in 2010. She routinely partners with lifestyle and parenting brands—particularly companies founded and operated by Black, Indigenous, and women of color entrepreneurs—to promote products, resources, and tools for modern, multicultural families.

I identify as a Black, cisgendered, relatively heterosexual woman, mother, and descendant of the African Diaspora. I am a 4th generation Portlander living and working on the ancestral lands of the Multnomah, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Cowlitz bands of Chinook, Tualatin, Kalapuya, and Molalla tribes, across Indian Country now called the state of Oregon. I honor our indigenous elders and Black abolitionists, who fought for the rights and mobility I exercise every day.

I am on a lifelong journey towards internal transformation that centers on unlearning harmful narratives and behaviors, healing, and reconciliation. I invite you to join me in doing the personal, highly-actionable work to dismantle intersectional oppression in your local community and across the globe.

Personal Note

I am what time, circumstance, history, have made of me, certainly, but I am also, much more than that. So are we all.
